Community
Impact
At Heel’n Behavior & Service Dogs, we believe that thoughtfully trained dogs can support not only individuals, but entire communities.
Alongside our service dog development work, we offer therapeutic programs and community initiatives designed to bring calm, comfort, and emotional support to people in everyday settings. These programs expand access to therapeutic interaction, support mental health, and create meaningful opportunities for connection.

Therapeutic Dogs With Purpose
Therapeutic dogs are trained to provide comfort, grounding presence, and emotional support in structured, supervised settings. While they do not perform disability-specific tasks or have independent public access rights, their impact can be profound.
Dogs selected for therapeutic work demonstrate:
-
Calm, steady temperaments
-
Emotional neutrality and resilience
-
Comfort around unfamiliar people and environments
-
Reliable manners and thoughtful responses
These dogs are educated with the same emphasis on emotional regulation, safety, and real-world behavior that guides all of our training programs.

Our therapeutic programs are designed to support mental and emotional well-being in a variety of settings, including:
-
Mental health and wellness events
-
Workplace wellness days
-
Community and nonprofit gatherings
-
Small-group therapeutic experiences
-
Retreat-style or luncheon events hosted on our peaceful property
These programs allow dogs to offer grounding presence, joy, and calm support — particularly valuable for individuals navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, or emotional fatigue.

A Retreat-Style Environment for Healing
Some therapeutic programs take place on our retreat-style property, located on a two-acre training space alongside a pond within a larger farm setting.
This calm, natural environment provides:
-
Space for reflection and regulation
-
Gentle sensory experiences
-
Opportunities for guided interaction with dogs
-
A peaceful alternative to traditional clinical or institutional settings
These experiences are intentionally small, thoughtful, and structured to support safety and emotional comfort.
Supporting Mental Health Access
Therapeutic programs help bridge gaps in access to mental health support by offering low-pressure, human-centered experiences that complement traditional care.
While these programs are not a replacement for therapy or medical treatment, they can:
-
Encourage emotional grounding
-
Reduce stress and anxiety
-
Foster connection and presence
-
Support overall well-being
Our goal is to create spaces where people feel supported, welcomed, and seen.
